I took your advice and went to the library. They told me that because of the high demand you had to book a "slot ". You are only allowed 30 minutes. I then went to BMD's when I got home. I didn't learn much from them, but more than I started out with. If I join ancestry from home, can they tell me about catholic orphanages back in 1924. As you can tell I really am a novice at this. Thanks for your help so far. Cas

Also most libraries will have a family history self help group led by one of the local studies librarians, they are doing all they can to keep people using the library resources as their jobs are at risk all across the country with internet usage at home.
Anyway, catholic Orphanages will not just crop up on ancestry itsself but you may find a useful posting a query in their forum, which i think you can do without subscribing. there are alot of sites that will be of use but mostly try this one to find the orpanage you need:
