Why is there no protection for home-owner, when squatters move in?
Should the law now be changed, so that the legitimate owners can claim their houses back?

Yes,AOG, it's probably a criminal offence to enter Chequers or No10 without express authority, never mind squat there ! Something like the law about entering MOD and restricted property or our anti-terrorism laws, no doubt .Any volunteers? No wonder the outgoing Prime Minister is so quick to leave after election day.

joko you get my idea, 4am is not a good time to find 5 or so large people shouting at you to leave (whatever mother tongue the squatters speak, they will get the message)
If you time it right, bouncers will do it on the way home !
Witnesses at 4am are hard to come by and most folks would 'not have seen anything' anyway when they learn of the homeowners predicament.

have live? eh?
I live in the real world, one where witnessess vanish when it's convenient. Ever had a road accident and find no-one saw it yet there are people round? They simply don't want to get involved.
I stand by what I said, irrespective of what side of the law it is, a reasonable man would find this the simplest, quickest option.
