Pain after gall bladder op
6 Answers
I had my gall bladder removed at the end of July 2009 . Laparoscopic surgery , all went well.
Since then I have had pain on and off at the site where I used to get the gallstone pain.
It's perfectly cope-able with, but annoying and slightly worrying.
Anyone got any ideas as to what it might be and if I should be drawing it to my GP's attention ? (Some hope...all the appointments today were taken by 08:20 and the next bookable one was not for 2 weeks.)
Thanks.

(And I have a seriously bad family history of cancer of the squishy bits.)

Hi ladyalex. I can see why you are concerned but just wanted to say that I had mine removed several years ago and occasionally get pain there still. I did get worried at first and was sent for a scan to see if there was any reason for this but there was nothing. The specialist told me that removing the gall bladder doesn't stop bile production, merely the accumulation and therefore formation of stones and that occasionally there could be pain. I was just advised to eat a balanced diet and I find that mine hurts more if I am off colour or not eating properly. Hope you get it sorted soon
