No. The guy did not defend himself against a burglar, he called in his chums and chased the guy down the street, and attacked him. That's not self-defence, that's revenge. Revenge is the prerogative of the criminal law system, and I'm surprised to see the judges reneging on their duty it in this case. He may consider himself extremely lucky. Those who rely on judges to enforce the law rather than give vent to their sympathies may find this an awkward precedent.
yes but clearly he didn't do enough dammage as the theiving scum was out robbing and theiving again it would seem. No wonder society is in a mess when we have yoghurt knitting do gooding little sh1tbags defending the scum. No doubt if it was your place jno you'd invite that chap back for a nice cup of tea!

I didn't think I would ever say this but, I must agree with jno on this one.
No, No, No, it is not just because Munir Hussain is a Muslim, that's before you all accuse me of being racist.
It is because the attack on the criminals did not take place in Munir Hussain's home, at the time of the crime
Most of us would agree that these thugs deserved a good beating up, but sanity must exist.
Say for instance these criminals were recognised days after their crime, would one be in their right to approach them and knock hell out of them?

Whether this is the right result rather depends on who did what and when.
Chasing someone down the street and beating the hell out of them whilst they lie bleeding on the ground is not self defence in any sense of the word.
What they may have done to him may be mitigating circumstances but it does not make him not guilty.
