Question about Hemorrhoids

i recently found a lump on the outside of my ass. i went to the doctors who had a look and said that i was suffering from hemorroids (piles). the doctor gave me some cream called anusil . i've applied this cream to the affected area for over 2 weeks and now the cream has ran out and still the pile hasnt vanished, any advice? thanks

Unsurprised. I've heard that some go back, but certainly they don't all.
Either live with it or ask your GP to cut it out.

If it is not painful, not itching, not bleeding.......then leave well alone.

isnt't the cream supposed to make it shrink or something though ?? its not painful but it is a little worrying as i have had it now for nearly a month and i dont really want to have the embarassment of seeing the doctor about it again

Buy more of the cream from any chemist. I don't think you need a prescription.

you can actually try pushing it in, although it may keep pertruding from time to time. As long as its not itchy, bleeding or painful, then just leave it alone. The cream is only to relieve the above symptoms and maybe shrink it a little but it won't actually make them go away permanently. They are varicous veins and are usually caused from pressure. The only way to remove it completely is by surgery, however its unlikely a Dr will agree to this unless they are severe and troublesome.

You might also think of a high fibre diet. That helps avoid straining. All Bran or porridge for breakfast, wholemeal bread, and lots of vegetables, will help.

As others have said, the best you can do is be immaculate in your personal hygiene, so as to prevent any infections getting in, watch your diet, avoid straining when you go to the loo, and keep using the cream whenever it itches or bleeds.

Try freezing them either with ice or small bag of frozen peas.Also when you go to the toilet try to wash yourself and use Savlon cream.

Yes, they do go. But not for everyone. I've had them 30 years ago during pregnancy and then last year, due I think to being at work on my feet for too long. Use a cream containing a steroid, which I think Anusil is but ask the chemist. It should shrink it but takes longer than 2 weeks imo. Alter your diet, drink more water, don't strain, and don't worry. Hopefully it will go - or almost go!

the doc gave me some prescription only cream which i presume must be more powerful than anusol, did the trick anyway

I have the same problem, but my gp gave me cream that numbs the pile so you can with clean hands push it back up, but try to make sure you keep yourself regular with a high fibre diet. Not sure if the cream you were given numbs it.
