Water purity in new area - just moved. Help!

When I lived in Shropshire a few years ago he tap water was awful - full of limescale? and this seemed to affect my digestion. I then moved to Lancshire for a couple of years ans the water was soft and no problems.
I have just returned to Telford and the water here leaves a metallic sediment aound the taps and although i tastes ok from the tap, if Ileave a glass of water by the bedside overnight, after a while it seems to have and 'iodine taste' and is undrinkable.
Also, since I moved back here I am experiencing the stomach problems that went when I was in Lancashire.
Someone has told me that this is because the water in Lancs comes from the Lakes and in the Midlands it is from 'bore holes'?
Is this a valid assumption and could this be affecting me?
Any help from experts out there would be most appreciated.

Limescale is just calcium carbonate. It's presence in your water is unlikely to cause stomach problems, since calcium carbonate is the principal (or sole) ingredient in antacid tablets!

From a health point of view, people tend to benefit from drinking hard water rather than soft water, as the body gains a small amount of carbonate and magnesium from it. It's a shame then that it doesn't agree with you.
