Bay tree
4 Answers
Good morning all.
I have a query about our bay tree, which lives in a pot and usually does very well. Last summer it was attacked by some sort of insect (or maybe a caterpillar of some kind). These beasties would sort of weld the leaves together and eventually the leaves would wither and drop off.
Does anyone know a) what these creatures could be and b) what could we use to get rid of them.
Many thanks,
Maz

My advice would be as you say that the tree is doing well, pick off the caterpillars as you see them or cut off the shoot that is affected and dispose of it away from your garden. If you keep a close eye daily and do this, then you shouldn't need to spray. Bay trees generally recover very well from being snipped over in this way.
