Condenser dryer - what could have gone wrong?

I've had a condenser dryer for about 5 years now - it's kept in my garage. Towels have always taken a long time to dry - approx 2 hours. However a month ago we moved the tumbler nearer the garage door (better for ventilation I thought) & to stand on the concrete floor.
The timing could be co-incidental, but now things seem to be taking twice as long to dry. Towels are now taking up to 4 hours - ridiculous, not to mention the cost of electricity! Also, there's a lot of damp fluff & more condensation inside the drum than there ever used to be. It is drying; just taking a lot lot longer.
Any explanations anyone?

sorry to disappoint JJ - I can't find any innuendon in tumble dryers.... I'm just pee'd off with waiting forever for fluffy dry towels & my electric bill is astronimical.
Sorry no answer.

I thought with a condenser you could put it any where. Mines in the bedroom at the moment. You don't need ventilation with a condenser. There might be something wrong with it.

Is it heating up properly?

When I had mine fixed he said that with condensers (excuse how I put it) the connection with the water thingy usually goes from the taking out and putting in. He also said they usually go about once a year at the cost of £45....

Also...have you emptied it?

yeah - emptying it all the time ummmm.
I think it's just getting to the bu55ered stage... more bleedin' expense.
could be that the exhaust vent has filled with lint from drying. Once cleared out you should see an improvement

thanks paul - but do that reguarly too. Unless you mean there's one at the back as well as the pull-out one at the front?
As well as the lint trap there will be a a condensing unit somewhere inside which also requires cleaning out at regular intervals. Does the manual give any indication of its position.

Oh dear - i don't tend to read or keep instruction manuals !!!
That could be the explanation - I'll have a scout around, cos if that is the case - there's 5 years' worth of build-up in there.
thanks paul x
buy a vented dryer - it will save you money in the long run
