Are you close to your siblings ? If so, what made you like that - was it parental influence, being close in age ?

I was born a Little Bustard, in the old sense, out of wedlock you understand.
I have no feelings for my half brothers at all, one being a fat uneducated git and the other being a thin uneducated git.
We have and never will have anything in common.

Use to get on really well with my sister until I finally woke up and realised what a bitter person she really is. She's the kind of person that pretends to be happy for other people but it really makes her seethe inside. I really didn't know how much she got me down until we had our first fall out and didn't speak for months. Before that we spoke everyday....but she was always so negative. About me, the kids, my house, my partner. I didn't really notice until we stopped talking. Since then things have gone down hill and she's told some serious lies about me.
I haven't any and quite honestly have never missed not having any. After I married I inherited some in law siblings which have confirmed to me the fact that I am better off without.
I do have a great male friend who I have adopted as my 'sibling' though because he is everything I would want a brother to be.

Back again peri - the phone rang when I first read your question, hence the quick answer!
Having 5 sisters (sadly eldest deceased) & 4 brothers, there are bound to be some that I'm closer to, but I love them all. Yes, there are many a story I could tell, but I'd be here a very long time. ;o}
Mum always encouraged us siblings to get on with each other & that's something we have always tried to do with our two daughters. They did have their moments when teenagers, but soon got through that stage & genuinly love each other & are very close.

When I was young my sister and I (she's 2 years older than me) hated each other....she was always the goody goody and I was always in trouble. It's only during the last 10 years we have become close and now besides being my sister she is one of my best friends.
My brother is 10 years younger than me and is definitely of a different generation....we bicker a lot but I must admit I love his 3 boys.....

smudge....I was brought up by my grandparents as my mother and mother, and when I was 16yrs old I was told that my sister was my mother. We were a very working class family, my grandfather a labourer on the railway.
I am proud of my upbringing and never ...ever...felt underprivileged or envious of others up bringing.

My sister & I also were like chalk & cheese when we were younger, & didn't get on all that well. We have grown more alike, and look more alike, as we got older. I've always been close to my elder brother, but the youngest moved to London years ago. He got himself into a bit of trouble & disappeared for a while. We had a reconciliation-of-sorts last year at my dad's 80th, but I must admit I'm not as close to him as the others.
