What is "easy to assemble"?
I have bought a wooden compost bin on-line which is "easy to assemble" - supposedly. It needs a decent electric cordless screwdriver which I do not own. There are 12+ screws which need to be screwed through two pieces of wood - c 1"+ total. The wood is pressure treated so is pretty solid. There are no predrilled holes. There was no indication on the internet description as to which tools were required.
It is supposed to be smooth-planed - but there are splinters galore sticking out of the roughly cut ends.
The company will accept it back - but will not pay for the carriage on either of the above grounds
.
The wood is also partly split and damaged so I am trying to get them to accept it back on those grounds - but it has got me thinking. Have there been any judgements which define what easy to assemble means? Can't find anything on google. Thanks

Return of goods following cancellation (Regulation 17)
Who pays for returning the goods if the consumer cancels
an order?
3.55 If you want the consumer to return the goods and to pay for that
return, you must make it clear in the contract and as part of the
required written information – see paragraph 3.10. If the consumer
then fails to return the goods, or sends them at your expense, you
can charge them the direct cost to you of the return, even if you
have already refunded the consumer’s money. You are not allowed
to make any further charges, such as a restocking charge or an
administration charge.
3.56 If you did not include these details in the required written information
then you cannot charge anything.
So have a look at their order confirmation as to what they say. If they don't say anything then it is theirs to pick up
