Whats the difference between WiFi and Wireless Broadband
I live on base in a block and im looking to get internet access. the people that run the block say WiFi is available, however im unsure if it will be suitable for online gaming and wether i need to buy a dongle or a wireless router? (there is no phone line installed in the room)

Wifi runa at 54Mbps, you are unlikely t get a broadband connection faster than 8Mbps, so (assuming a good signal) WiFi will not be the limiting factor.
If you have no phone line, then you can't use a wireless router (nowhere to plug it in!).
Assuming that you connect via their WiFi (your post is not very clear) you will just need a wireless adaptor. If you have a modern laptop, it will already have one built in. If not you'll need one of these: http://tinyurl.com/ylmtgv9
