I'm in the same boat as you; took out a Career Development Loan for the course a couple of years ago. Only halfway through the course but still owe nearly 4k! Mine is with Co-Operative who have given little help, and I've had even less help form the Learning Skills Council who over see the CDL's. If you took out the Advent sponsored Barclays agreement then you may have a little more joy as others are reporting they are being quite helpful. If you've not seen it before; pop over to Social Junction (http://www.socialjunction.co.uk/) a forum set up by Advent students for Advent Students - A lot of posts and some useful info. Also if you have any form of loan then there may be some recourse through Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act; check out: http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/report ... oft303.pdf for further info and there is a template letter for the claim at http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_ ... er_credit/
There is also some coverage by BBC regarding the matter so there is growing support for our predicament. It's early days yet but this is affecting thousands so there is a large community of us that can club together to offer each other support and guidance. Really suggest you check out Social Junction as this really is a useful place to discuss all this! - I'm Ben 01635 in that forum if you want to look me up!
Good luck - hopefully we will find some way of getting our money back!! Media URL: http://www.socialjunction.co.uk
