im thinking of giving up my day job to start changing light bulbs in commercial properties i have enough electrical experience and plenty of lighting knowledge but just lack ideas when it comes to trying to find ways of getting even 1 customer can anybody help cheers

Phone your target companies.....guage their response for whether this is a viable business.

cheers guys for your answers i do quite agree that many people wont want to pay to change light bulbs but more sophisticated repairs on lighting circuits are my division, changing light bulbs mite just be an extra earner and a viable way of leaving my day job,,,

Not much help,but letting people know that there IS someone out there who will change 'just' a lightbulb.Would most people contact an electrition?I must admit I thought it was a joke thread at first,but it does make sense now I think about it.

I have seen contracted workers changing lighting bulbs in our local supermarket. Well not exactly bulbs but industrial lighting of some sort. There are very few commercial premises where the staff would be expected to 'tamper' with compliated lighting systems. It's not simple.
