Klez virus
3 Answers
Apparently it's unsafe to even open a klez worm email!, even if you don't open the attachment. My OE6 opens the most recent mail automatically, How can I stop this behaviour while I examine the from line, properties etc? Is it safe to open Yahoo mails, at Yahoo mailbox? Currently I have all incoming mail on ignore will this keep me safe from OE6's 'opening habit'? maybe I could send myself a safe email to top my inbox list before issuing receive all command? This worm (Klez) nearly infected me already and I know some people who got it without opening attachments. Any Help please?

Also, if you have the latest security upgrade to Outlook and Outlook express that will close the loophole that allows the virus to run it's exe attachment without clicking on it. Keep you system up to date and you will not be at too much of a risk! Get the upgrades from here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.

There appear to be several viruses which put you at this type of risk, one showing "IBM" (proper name Exploit-MIME.gen.exe) as sender and subject enters precisely the same way. This is why I feel strongly that ISP's should set up virus filters so these things are not able to propagate. According to a reply to my question posted a while back, BT now offer virus removal from all mail traffic to yo (and presumably from you also).
