If you have a chance, could you please go over to "Family" and see smartie's "Adoption" thread, when you can, and see if there is anything you can suggest she does for her OH's predicament.

I cant see how you can proceed if the partners father is not willing to talk about it......surname, surely, is needed here, so may be stuck, as smartie mentions on her thread.
