Do you like where you live?

Who can honestly say that they like where they live?
I've lived in my village for 14 years and I can honestly say that if I could afford to move, I would. I've just been up to my local Tesco for the usual shopping, food, few beers etc and I was absolutely shocked at what happen. There was a gang of people, about 7 or 8 (all in their early teens) that were being pushed out the shop because they were causing nothing but trouble - swearing and kicking a ball about in the shop. As the shopping gaurd was telling them to get out they started pushing him around outside, so I walk up to them and said "Hey, don't do that, how would you like it if 8 people were pushing you around on your own, just go home before the police are call", so then I got a load of abuse. I hate to see this happen, so many people intimidating an honest man just trying to do his job. /rant over/

yes if I had the money I'd move too! It's not too bad, but it isn't ideal. We live within our means don't we. I would consider moving tomorrow, others in my household are set in there ways x

My village used to be nice up until about 3-4 years ago when all the youngsters grew up or should i say became alot more immature and got driving licences. This village is full of chavs who go around takin the p!ss and climbing on peoples cars! :-(

I used to love where we live - that was until a few years ago when most of the local shops started closing down & we had new 'loudmouth nutty' neighbours move in next door!

We've lived here since 1983 & love our home, but I am looking forward to maybe moving somewhere more peaceful, 'specially in the summer. Well have to see what's on offer.....

I absolutely love where I live. Moved here in 1974 after living in Buckinghamshire, Adelaide and, briefly London. Born & brought up in the Cotswolds. Ours is a medium sized village (it was a small village when we arrived) with all facilities and absolutely lovely people. There's very little crime, few problems with anti-social behaviour, a thriving parish church with an increasing congregation and so-on.

I wouldn't leave for anything even though it's most unlike where I grew up. Paradise, that's how I'd describe my home village.

Ours is a very historic small town, with lots of nice buildings, save for the old ugly Inland Revenue building, say no more! We also have a beautiful church at the end of our road & on a Wed & Sat you'd think you were in the middle of a village listening to the bells at evensong & weddings - if only!

Nothing good in the house to eat so it is toast for the time being until I can find the energy to cook something.

I hate the fact that because I'm young, albeit not as young as the skanks around here, I'm seen by many people as being one of them. Luckily I know nearly all the staff at Tesco which means I don't get followed around by staff making sure I'm not stealing. If I go into the corner shop I get watched by the staff because they class me as being a yob. It's not just the people, it's the village too - dark horrible alleys that aren't safe to walk down etc. Someone tried to mug me (when I was 18, weighing 14 stone and built like a brick sh*t house) of my shopping - some young little sh*t just wanting to get his drug money. I'd swap any day :)

I dont think it matters where abouts you live there always seems to be a bunch of a***holes in every town or village that spoil it for decent folk.

Maybe it's because I didn't grow up here. You know I'm actually scared to walk the streets (even to go to the shops) after 8pm (or when it's dark). The street lights aren't turned on and to be honest if I couldn't drive/ride I would never go out anywhere - not even to the bus station which is next to Tesco.

We have CCTV more advanced that most banks, high interest buildings (nothing like fort knox lol) and most police stations. The police have had more convictions due to our CCTV footage than they have from any shop on the mainstreet of the village. I know that because they have told us that we have the best CCTV in the village. We shouldn't have to have all this security.

I moved from the beautiful sleepy town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk to blummin Peterborough. Say no more.

Sachs: yeah it wasn't easy and if I had been on my own in the middle of no where I wouldn't of dreamed of confronting them. I made sure I was in range of CCTV so that if I did have to defend myself I'd have a valuable witness. Whilst I'm in my house and not on the streets I'm fairly safe so I'm not too worried about getting jumped!
Oh well, that was then, this is now.

Diz ... I am so sorry to hear that you'd rather live somewhere else.

I am really lucky, because I love where I live.

I love my flat, I adore my town. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Maybe if I had a family, children etc, I'd like to live somewhere a bit more refined.

But for me, my noisy, cheesey, lairy town is perfect.

I like the street in the village where I live, good neighbours ,a community spirit but not OTT.
No teenagers, and only 1 small child..
Plenty of countryside and the coast.
Have lived here for 14years and wish I had moved to this spot earlier.

I've lived here about 3 years and overall it is very pleasant. However, we do get occasional visits from the yobs on the local estate as they know the vast majority of us are pensioners. It can be very frustrating as if I was younger I would go out and smack the lot of them.......as it is it can be quite frightening.
