How can I stop my internet connection disconnecting of its own accord?

Try this. Open My Computer, then dialup networking. Highlight your dialup connection icon and right-click, then choose properties. Where it says "connect using" and the name of your modem, click on configure and then connection, look for call preferences and check whether the "disconnect a call if idle for more than" box is checked, if it us deselect it. Hope this helps.

You can get tiny bits of software on the net that send an inert 'poll' of the network every now and again. Search Engine will find you one.

I have to disable my call waiting facility as the tones of an incoming call will disconnect me.
