Hi All
Unbeknown to me when I bought my new computer Microsoft office was a trail version. This has now run out and I need to buy it.
Is there a way around it short term to finish off a project I started or a product key I can use?
Cheers

Legally? no, unless you buy it from a website that will 'sell' you the product key before actually receiving the hard copy.
Open Office any good for finishing it off or does it have to be done with MS Office?
You could try installing Microsoft Office 2010 (Beta). It's free until October. I've been using it successfully for a couple of months.

Nice one Bigdave, sounds good. So is this like a free demo people can use before it being sold as office2010?
Correct
But remember the golden rule - back up all of your data first!!
...Or you could do that, I'm slacking with the computer help lately ;P

52 minute download time!!
I had the same problem a few months back managed to get it sorted. I googled this several times and mostly people had posted product keys but none of these worked as they'd been used previously. What i did find was that if you click 'cancel' when starting the office programme, and therefore never starting the trial period, bizarrely you can still use the programme in its entirety and as the trial never started it never runs out, very weird. Obviously in your case this is too late so another option i found was that someone had posted an answer to get round your problem. That is by changing the programming code in a couple of the registry files you seem to be able to use the product no problem at all and it's worked for me ever since. I can't remember exactly which site it was but searching something like 'microsoft office registry code hack' and you'll find it. It only requires a little know how and was pretty easy to do. In fact just did the search for you and the site i used was

I've download the beta version but every time i try to activate it via the internet the connection fails??!?!??!
The cheapest way to buy MS Office is to get the Home and Student version for about £60 (Amazon).

This has Word, Excel and Powerpoint (and can be installed on 3 computers)

For some reason my link above did not work, try again

You can save documents and spreadsheets in MS Office format when using Open Office.
