The link is statistical and probably not deniable. The conclusions you draw can be debated though.
It is perfectly possible that those who are depressed tend to find it easier to interact with the world via a PC than to deal with it directly. Which would skew the figures and show a link. That doesn't mean that all those who use the Net, or even all those who know they are on it more than they'd like to admit, have a problem with depression though.

One could say that 99% of postings on the News topic are rants, even this particular post.
We are all allowed to have our own individual comments (good or bad) on various news reports, that is the whole idea of the news site.
But some people like to criticise in a rude and offensive manner, if others particular views don't fit in with the status quo.
