Date and walnut cake

I am trying to make a descent d&w cake and I was thinking of soaking the dates in alcohol but wondered if anyone could recomend one that would work well.

I haven't heard of a date & walnut cake with alcohol in, I think it would spoil the end result cassa x

I shall try it but your right sachs I don't want to spoil the taste so it will be a pure experiment.

My recipe for date and walnut cake is from the 1980s. soak the dates in anything nice to get them soggy. Wine is good. But warm milk/water equally so plus vanilla essence etc.. The point being the dates will drink any moisture in the cake mix up leaving you with moist dates and powder - unless you slake their thirst first.
