Probably a bit farfetched, but I don't have kids so I'm a bit out of touch!
Hi texol. An idea for a sweeties based party would be to make a 'pinata'. I am not too sure about the spelling of that, but I think it is a Mexican game that is now quite popular in the USA. The idea is to make a casing (probably out of papier mache, plaster of paris or something similar) and then fill it full of sweets. It is then suspended from the ceiling (or a tree etc) and the kids then take it in turns in bashing it with a stick til it breaks and all the sweeties fall out over the kids heads.
In reading back over what I have typed, the way that I have described it makes it sound very violent but I have seen it on TV a couple of times and kids just seem to adore it. It is like sweeties falling from the sky which is kiddie heaven isn't it?! If you do a google search on pinata I am sure it will throw up something to guide you.
Can I also just say what a great parent you are to take the time to plan such an exciting party for your little girl. My parents didn't have much money when we were growing up, but they used their imaginations to give each of us a great party every single year. My poor father must have dressed up as a ghost a thousand times over the years, but the memories that they have given us will stay with me til the very day I die.
Sorry for rambling, but if you want any seasonal ideas, I have some for Christmas, summer, easter and hallowe'en too - curtesy of my parents!!
