Is Harriet Harman guilty of not practicing what she preaches?

Her husband could be selected to fight for a safe seat at the next election, after Labour's bosses decided not to impose an all-women shortlist on candidates. Surprisingly, Ms Harman, who usually attends such meetings and strongly favours the women only lists, was absent from this meeting.

Labour’s National Executive Committee swiftly ruled that the candidate to succeed Sión Simon should not be chosen from an all-women shortlist. The absence of Ms Harman, Labour’s deputy leader and Minister for Equality, from Thursday’s meeting attracted scorn from some Cabinet colleagues.

One said: “Harriet is usually such an effective champion for all-women shortlists. It’s strange that she should have gone missing when the NEC decided to allow her husband a run at this seat. The word is that Erdington is being parcelled up for Jack Dromey.” //

Wouldn't there be a strong smell of conflict of interests if she'd attended? Of course she should absent herself from meetings that might involve her husband, even remotely. No doubt in this case it's convenient for both of them; but she should do so anyway, and go crash a car or something.
