MM Links Solutions February 2010 [Week 1]

I was pleased to see that the first week of “Prince Philip” (aka centrino) went without a hitch (launch-wise) and (with any initial round) this is a priority. However, PP was more than up to the task (so I need not have worried) as he went for the following Links:

Red WINE
White SHEILD
Blue BLOOD
Gold LABEL

I was so preoccupied with having a smooth launch that I failed to spot the fact that there are so many options under each colour. Also, the chosen links have strong associations with local alcoholic drinks that many AB-Linkers would end up well off the mark! That was true for all entries ~ except one! Can you guess who?

Amid many enterprising (but unsuccessful) predictions, the first decisive attack came from a prompt fordward with (non-alcoholic) BLUE BLOOD for TWO POINTS. One minute later came Entrant #11 in the guise of beejay1124 with RED WINE to claim his TWO POINTS. Only Dustybun managed to cash in on a prompt repetition of Blue Blood to wind down the clock to 09.03am with two of the Link Words still going begging.

The next to appear was Strix with an apology for being almost 30 minutes late on parade. To rub salt in the wounds of the 14 entrants who were there for roll call (but literally pointless), Strix proceeded to claim both remaining Links together with Blue Blood for a remarkable FIVE POINTS to qualify as being HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.

There followed only ladyalex and (newcomer) middlestump who were able to get onto the scoreboard (just) for closure on a low-scoring game. I need to answer the query of deecee who unusually posted one of the early answers to KM and one of last answers to MM ~ Yes, it is a record! However, the very last entry that I processed was that of Pauline ~ Nice to see you, to see you nice!

The League Table after this first week is:

FIVE POINTS: Strix
TWO POINTS: beejay1124, Dustybun & fordward
ONE POINT: ladyalex & middlestump
After these (many ex-champions) everyone else is equal seventh!

On the positive side, there is still everything to play for!
Until Round 2, this is crofter signing off!

This soak only did so well by knowing the various brews of ale and is sorry to have missed on Red Wine - had thought my offering of Red Plume would chime with the Grenadiers!

What a good idea MM is and it clearly has a dedicated fan base which agrees.
