yesterday, about 5.30 and just before we closed at 6pm, I spotted 2 girls messing about with some small itens of stock and I asked them if they were ok, then noticed through a semi-transparent clairs accessories bag the girl kneeeling infront of a fixture had, an item we sell, i went over to her and from where i srood i could see the item quite clearly, so i asked her if she had just bought that, she panicked and put it and another similar item back on the shelf. Then her mate starts starts chattering away really oddly, then i noticed they both had small carrier bags that were full to bursting with something. I asked them if they would mind emptying the bags and they did, there must have been at least 100 small items from clairs accessories in those bags, including 3 purses. several dozen pairs of earings, all new on their display cards, necklaces, hair clips. they then start saying that claires had a but 10 items or 3 pounds lucky bag offer on. i asked them how much they had spent and they said £3 each. As I was the manager in charge it was up to me what i did.
I waloked away, rang the park loss prevention on the walkie talkie and waited. the girls just stood there and started trying to cry, blaming one another, ringing their dad to say i had told them they couldn;t leave blah blah blah,
the security guy came and he was disgusted at their language, they were both dressed like tarts, and it turned out one was 11 and one was 12.
They were told to leave and that the open invitation for them to shop in the store had been withdrawn.

Well, what would you have done?

Read this thread on a cold winter morning, what a lot of aggro over nothing . Dot was right , followed the system for shoplifting in the premises where she works --end of.
So what is all the argy bargy about? Why do things have to become personalised in a discussion-- beats me.!

sigh, I know brenda, the initial responses from Dris were not about the question at all but hey, I'm off to work in a bit and we can replay the CCTV, bet they had taken other stuff that I hadn't spotted!
Lets face it, some people would have found fault with anything you post Dotty. If you'd stated you'd pulled children out of a burning orphanage on Christmas Eve it would be seen as wrong by some.

Don't worry 'bout it- and have a good day at work :-)

lol cheers B00, you're so right! Mind you, I tried on my black patent leather side zipped stiletto knee boots this morning and the word 'gestapo' came into my head
Hello there dot,
I wonder just WHO Dris is/was?
They certainly answered your thread to have a go at you, rather than asnwer your question.
I ask this because they made a comment about our friendship with In A Pickle and his partner (which not everyone on AB has noticed,or knows about).
So it is obvious to me that they are someone under another name, and someone who doesn't seem to like you.
Never mind,I do,and I think what you did was right.
Let's see if Dris comes in and has a go at me now.I can bear it!
Of course there is a Drisgirl isn't there, but Dris isn't her.
Hiya Mr. V.

Dris is the ABer formerly known as Drisgirl. She has an inimitable style. Plus, she posted not long ago on here that she has dropped the "girl" part of her name. Glancing back through this thread, it looks like some of her posts have been removed, but not all of them. Can't figure that one out.
Thak you for that mrs.chappie.
Well, if it's Dris(girl) then I think it's sad,as she used to be such fun.
I can only assume that she has some dispute with dot to be so agressive over a non agressive question.
You really don't know people on AB do you?
Too true Mr. V. As I understand it, the bad feeling between Dris and dot goes back a long way. That aside, I felt that Dris was out of order insulting other posters on the thread. It seemed to me that she'd blown it up out of proportion.

(And Dris - I am not saying this "behind your back" so to speak. I know you will read it).

Mr. V. - please give my regards to Mr. Pickle. Thanks. xxx

Im here -Mrs C you are correct I dropped the 'girl'.x
Correct BTW -Dot gives as good as she gets and she also plays a good victim so i'll expect you to spring to my defence when you see her having one of her regular go's at me in future -o and I wouldnt dream of saying I would wring a childs neck -but I read that as an off the cuff remark not as a threat :)
Mr V -I wouldnt dream of having a go at a rude 86yr old man.I hope IAP is doing well and I do hope that you can post in future without having to resort to cheap jibes re mental health :)
Now im off to kip as I have a banging headache due to a head cold so save your wee fingers as I wont be back on this thread it just flashed up as I was eating my soup and now im glad as I wouldnt have been able to rest easy had I known that you were both concerned:)

Have a nice evening both xxx
No Kno -prolly right and saw an oppo to relieve my boredom at the same time :)
Dris - these 11 and 12 year old toerags (oops sorry, children) had stolen - as well as approximately 150 quid's worth of stuff from the shop - 3 purses. One of those purses could have belonged to my dear old mum who struggled to live on a pension. Or your dear old mum.

Or it could have been the purse that was stolen from me many years ago when I was enjoying my first weekend away from home. The toerag (child or adult, I have no idea) that stole it left me hundreds of miles away from home and penniless. Not a nice situation for a young girl (as I was then) to be in. It certainly screwed up my holiday. And I won't forget that weekend away for a long time.

So I make no apologies for saying I would strangle the toerags who steal - adult or adolescents. (I think we can assume from dotty's description, these girls were not exactly children).

Oh, and Dris ..... I have no intention of getting involved in future squabbles between you and dot - unless dot starts bad-mouthing other folk on the thread for no good reason.
Dot, put In your circumstance I would have done the same. The girls being caught is a wake-up call for them and their parents. Should they have not been caught, most likely they will continue to shop-lift without fear of being caught; and who knows where they would end up. I don’t believe any parent in their right mind would want their child / children to become thieves.
I understood the three purses to be new purses - stolen from Claire's Accessories
Hi 1955.

Dot says the 3 purses were found in a black handbag that one of the girls had on them. They were not found in the Claire's bag.
