Craft can i ask you here what you think about some of the stuff we do in the G topic? Do you think sometimes we are helping professionals?

Dot....I couldn't give two sh!ts what you do for a living.

The only issue I have is your running commentary on how many hours you work...what days...and so on and so on and so on. It's tedious and boring. That's all.

That's one part of it craft, but there's been one or two that needed index searches that were actually easy. still, it is up to people whether they help or not. The role of a genealogist is to know the soutces and how to use them and apply them to individual research. The actual research is the role of a record agent and they are very expensive to employ on a sub contract basis.

I've done quite a few trees for various friends and friend of friends, but nothing too complicated as I wanted to be 100% sure of the facts I gave them. I don't charge for my time as it's my hobby.
If they want certificates I get those, which they keep, and if they want a nice tree done I have a friend who is a calligraphist and she does the chart for them, at a cost.
