all my downloaded software files are corrupt!

i have recently reformatted my pc back to factory settings and now i am trying to reinstall all the old software, but everything i download says the file is corrupt when i try to install it...

any ideas why? and what can i do?

I am not an expert but: Have you updated vista? If its back to factory all those upgrades and updates will be missing and Chrome is comparatively new.

Or you could download via another browse fiefox or dare I say it IE.

hi dave, yes i tried firefox an downloaded the same software and the same thing happened... i think vista is up to date but ill look into it , thanks

vista is all up to date and i have now downloaded an tried to install about 4 items of software on firefox, chrome and IE....and all start to install then a box says the source files are corrupt...
these are legitimate, well known, trusted items of software, 2 of which have been paid for and are security tools

any ideas whats up?

Check your memory .. Have you removed/added/altered it?

Installing a program requires a Windows system component, called Windows Installer, to do so. If Windows Installer is reporting all program set-up files as corrupt, the likelihood is that it's actually Windows Installer which is corrupt. Try downloading Windows Installer 4.5:
