My washing machine fills up with water even when I haven't asked it to! Not a lot - highest amount has been approx 2-3inches but it builds up the longer I don't use it. Any clever ABers know why, and how I can sort it please?

Thank you. Do you know how it can be fixed? I'm fairly idiotic with DIY stuff.

Are you sure it's taking water in and not sucking it back? That is what mine was doing. Called an engineer and it was a kink in the waste pipe.

Thanks for the speedy replies. Will investigate.
I hope you solved your problem and I know I'm a bit late but if your grey emptying hose is lying on the floor plus empties out into the sink outlet pipe. Water can get into the hose when water empties out of the sink. Solution raise the hose so that it looks like an upside U :- fix in this position.
