Well Catherine Cookson's books sound geordie....
I thought anyone who lives north of the Watford Gap was a Geordie.

CC is fro Jarrow craft which is Tyneside but the people there are not Geordies as such you have to be born withinin so many miles of Newcastle to constitute being a Geordie...or so they reckon, a lot of people from Jarrow and Hebburn align themselves with Sunderland but there are a lot who say they are a Geordie
Sounds a reasonable criteria, Jan ... !

How is life in Hastings? Not grim, like it is "up north" I trust.

Catherine Cookson's is an odd life story.
She fled from her place of birth when quite young, and eventually settled in Hastings (near here) and lived there till about 5years before her death(at quite an age).
Although she always said how much she hated the place she came from, she chose at the end of her life to go back there, even though really she had become a citizen of Hastings.
Old people are strange! LOL
Yes ... old people are strange !
I shouldn't wind Joy up. My grandparents were from South Shields. xx
