... seemed a really good guy. Talented, modest, not starstruck or limelight-crazed. Loved his mum... How sad. Was he gay does anyone know? Not as though it matters a jot - but my daughter asked, and because he kept his private life much to himself, I wasn't really sure.

Since Gay lib in the 1060/70's very few gays frequent public toilets.
If you were 16,a gay would be very wary of encouraging or touching you(on the whole this is way too young for most gays,unless they are 16).especially as the gay age of consent has not dropped to that for very long as such.
So the 16 year old would have to "prove" he was wanting to pick up another guy,especially an older gay,before they made any advances.
What would YOU do in a bar/cafe/restaurant if you thought a 16 year old girl was coming on to you?

MrV. As an ex youth worker, a YTS supervisor & a probation worker, it has happened when a 16yr old girl has come on to me...you ignore it, or say something like..."I'm old enough to be your father etc. I was trained to deal with these things.
