Hi Ed, I was just curious, could you maintain a troll user id alongside a "normal" id on answerbank? would you be able to have 2 browsers open simultaneously and post abuse in one and nice cheerful stuff in another and the two IDs would never be linked?

maye chuck can explain this better than me. everytime i log on i get a different ip address. i presume that there is a bundle and it is first come first served. i am on aol the family next door was on aol and one of her sons has been in trouble with the aol chatsite and others ?
i tried to log on to one site and was blocked , when i questioned this i was told my ip was blocked due to trolls but i could apply to have it unblocked.
with my address changing everytime i log off i would have to ask for all the different ip addressess to be unblocked.
next door are now with sky but some other person could cause trouble and get the ip address blocked. hope that makes some sense

I think you could have as many browser windows open on AB as you want.
If you had (say) 6 identities then you would be able to log in 6 times.
The AB server would regard each identity as a seperate person.
So the answer to your question is yes.

I am with craft on this,
I sometimes have 3 browser windows open at once.
One to amazon.
another to a chat forum.
and yet another to an elderly advice forum.
I pop back and forth as the whim takes me,and as my questions/answers are responded to.
One of the (possibly) important things with doing this is,when Windows asks "do you want Windows to remember this password" say yes,and also do not delete cookies,both of these will help you to have several browser windows open at once.

Well craft and I both do it (no not together!LOL)
often.
So anyone who knows their way around their PC can do the same.
Let me demonstrate:~
first I open up AB,then shrink it.
Then I go to Amazon,which doesn't require a password(unless you are buying),and shrink that.
The repeat with chat forum,shrink that.
Off to Elderly Advice Forum,and shrink that.
It should be noted that on AB,Cat & Elderly,I have clicked the box (on the respective forum page) that says "keep me logged in on this PC" this is done by the forum recognising a cookie that has been downloaded onto your PC.
If you delete cookies then you can do the above,but it's longer and more complicated.
When I have the 4 browser windows "shrunk" at the bottom of the page I can just click on one and post etc on it,and then shrink it again and use another.
In this way I can flit between forums,OR just flit between information pages for whatever reason I wish.
I hope this is clear,because it is easy,but I feel I may have made it complicated! LOL

Technically speaking there is NO limit to the number of browser windows that you can have open at any one time.
It's just when you gest past about six the shrunk browser window ID disappears and you can't be sure which browser window is which.
My record (when I was doing some complicated research) was 8 windows,but I went cross eyed then!

It IS easy.
As I say,if you click on "keep me logged on on this PC" you should be OK
and dont delete cookies.
Some sites don't have a "keep me etc" that just means they probably don't require passwords/usernames etc.
I keep AB and all my other well used site in my favcourites,which makes it even easier
For AB for example.I click on AB in favourites,and I am straight in(as I am permanently looged in on the home page of AB).
Look, I am 87,if I can do it,anyone can! LOL
