council tax home visit

what is this and why do they do it, my friend is claiming council tax and works part time, she is a lone parent, she was curious as to why they sent her a letter to visit her house to check her details and make sure they are up to date....is there a hidden agenda.she isnt doing anything wrong, she works for a living and just gets a single person reduction, which she is entitled to.

they always make people feel like they are commiting a crime, just by applying for a benefit..........it sucks, i mean i have been told i dont have to work, and can stay on benefits, but i choose to work, coz it helps your mind working, i juggle work and kids and the home chores, and i do get fed up, but i wouldnt change a thing.
