Wireless laptop no longer recognizing HomeHub since using Uniblue

I have a BTHome Hub 2 connected to the pc (XP), which was connecting my 1 year old Acer laptop (Vista) wirelessly to the internet; but to try and speed up the pc I purchased Uniblue Powersuite and ran everything. Immediately the laptop no longer recognized the Home Hub, and I have tried everything I can think of to get the connection back.

I was so disgusted with the Uniblue stuff (it has also caused Windows Installer to pop up every time trying to install Corel Photo Album, which is already on the pc, and I can't stop it), that I performed a System Restore which was the only suggestion the Uniblue Tech Support guy had, but it hasn't solved these problems.

When I go to Connect To, or any other Network info on the laptop, it is still showing my neighbour's HomeHub, which it always did, and another HomeHub with a different number, which wasn't there before. If I try to connect manually, or create a new connection, it tells me that my number already exists, but then won't recognize it.

Please help!

If you ran uniblue and it messed up the PC, then there isn't a problem with the laptop per se, is there? Wouldn't it be better to have the Homehub be independent, as router and a wireless hub instead of having the net connection go to your pc, then your homehub and then, consequently, your laptop?

It sounds to me like the Homehub's wireless is either disabled, or it's been reset somehow. I would try disconnecting the hub from the PC, and plugging it in on it's own (phone line and power) and then resetting the thing using the supplied instructions. From there, you can get the wireless back up and running without having to use your uniblue'd PC as a middle man. If you need to connect with wires to the hub initially, then just use the network cable from the PC between the laptop and the hub to configure the settings if need be.

Thanks Mobius1; I've connected the laptop to the internet with the ethernet cable removed from the pc, and gone through all the setup again, but there is definitely a problem with the wireless in the hub. I'll try BT desktop help tomorrow, I might need a new hub.
