How safe is it to send confidential details via text? Can they be easily intercepted like email, for example? Or is it okay to send things like my credit card details for example - or are there ways to know 'safer' or secure text numbers?

well... theoretically yes they could be intercepted. text messages and mobile phone conversations are transmitted digitall using radio frequencies in the Ghz band. but what you have to ask yourself is this, who is going to read my 1 text message among the 300,000,000 sent each year in the UK. so can it be done? yes. would it be done to my message? almost certainly not.
Anyway you can encrypt it before you send it. OE5, and 6 offer that facility. Or you could even as freeware, get beyond military 128 bit encryption there's no end; Just be sure the person at the other end has similar decryption apps.
