I had some general blood tests (FBC, U&E, Glucose etc...) done last week at my doctors and got a letter through today from them saying they have received the results of my recent test.
It then said they would like me to repeat the urine tests (they didn't do one though) and saying to collect a sample pot from reception and repeat in one months time.
They included a specimin form with only U&E ticked but isn't that a blood test?
Am a bit confused! Will ring the surgery Monday but if anyone could shed any light I'd be very grateful.
According to one website I've just looked at, U&E can be blood or urine tests (it says"The kidney is essential for the control of the body's fluid balance. The above tests are used to investigate urinary symptoms and kidney disorders. The urea and creatinine are waste products excreted by the kidney. ") So it looks as if your doc didn't ask for the urine tests and is asking for it now, perhaps the info from the surgery isn't quite clear enough!
When I went to gastro the other week he said some stuff had shown up in my bloods they did (eosophiles? and raised white thingys though have the latter quite often).

Yes U&E are usually blood tests, but they are hardly going to put your blood in a sample pot are they?

So we have a specimen pot and a form with U&E ticked.......now the specimen form is either nothing to do with the specimen pot in which case U&E means urea and electrolytes (Blood test) OR the specimen form goes with the specimen pot which makes U&E, a urine test.Urinalysis and Examination (U&E)
