Lack of memory

Could anyone tell me how I can increase my "Video Memory"?  I tried to install a game and got this message "DirecyX is reporting that there is not enough memory to run the game"

You�re not running out of graphics card memory, but rather from what I gather, your system does not have enough RAM to run the application properly. Most applications, games, provide the user with detailed information concerning the necessary software/hardware needed to run the program. I would take a look at that, and check to see if your pc has the required amount of RAM. Or, perhaps your video card is not a supported hardware component.
