Would a vote for the BNP be like spitting on all that is good in our country?

We are, for the most part, a decent , liberal, humane, people.
Is anyone thinking of voting for the BNP really happy with a party that is more in line with 1930's Germany than it is with our own country at the start of a new century?

That is the problem, the BNP are so far right and would be very dangerous to support and allow them to gain power however they will gain support because they so say have the balls to stand against the issue of imigration which is quite an important issue to the majority of people in this country. Unfortunately there isn't a party that is prepaired to go out on a limb and do something about imigration so they will get misguided support from the angry british people that mistakenly think that they are patriotic

Very few people would believe every claim made by labour or the Conservatives so why think the BNP say exactly what they mean. I personally agree with some of their advertised policies but I would never vote for them because I know that underneath the veneer there's a lot of racist scum.
Apologies to those offended by this I realise that not all BNP supportes are overtly racist but those who aren't are in my opinion severely misguided.
I wouldn't go as far as to say they are the same as the Nazis but I doubt the Nationalist Social Party announced a policy of genocide when they were campaigning to get into power.

correct in what you say rev.The bnp have tried to use a charm offensive to get more votes. All their top people are just nazi.In a program on the bnp a woman was asked about their views on the holocaust and what did she think. She said she never thought about it and could not give a view. The claim was they would not be racist in attitude. In the 1930s the moderate parties thought they could control Hitler.
Well said Rev Sermon. The Guardian had a report on Saturday about how in areas where a BMP councillor has been elected, reported incidents of hate crime have increased since the election and of course while there may be reasons behind it about higher BME populations in those areas so possibly more tensions, it is more than coincidental and I cannot help but suspect that it is also about giving racist thoughts and actions some sort of credibilty or acceptance; and it is not just ethnic minorities that they are against - Nick Griffiths on Question Time expressed his dislike of gay people too.
While there are a lot of things wrong with the UK at the moment, there are not many things about this country that I am actively ashamed of, but one of them is the rise in popularity of the BNP - and I am sorry if this is offensive to anyone, but I also agree with the point that I cannot help but think that many supporters of the BNP are either hate filled themselves or severely misguided.
I don't know if anyone saw the recent Panorama programme about British/Asian journalists going under cover in Bristol (my city) but frankly if I were treated like that every time I left my house, I wouldn't bother to integrate either - it was much safer for them to stay within their own community and people - integration is not all a one way street.
I understand and share the worries about population and the demand on resources (not all due to immigration - too many people already here - indigenous or otherwise- having too many children!) but hate propelled policies (however respectable they are made to appear) is not the way to solve it and would be a shameful way forward.

I can't remember his exact words, but his answer was something along the lines of finding it repulsive, or disgusting, or offensive - I more remember the reaction that I got to his words, than his actual words, and whatever words he used it clearly told me that he was opposed. The BNP has also apparently called AIDS "nature taking revenge" and Nick Griffin has called homosexuality "deviant behaviour" and I believe that the BNP opposed civil partnerships and the equalisation of the age of consent; sorry I can't give exact references as this is just from things I've read over time, but the ever infallible Wikipedia will no doubt have more complete information with references.
I have cut and pasted my answer to Pussy's thread elsewhere about the BNP as I think it is relevant here too.
Report This(Thu 00:23 21/Jan/10) I am sorry pussy,
but if you think the BNP will make anyway headway at a general election you are suffering under a delusion!
The British people are too sensible to be taken in buy such policies, especially when the BNP is merely Fascism?Nazism under a semi literate exterior.
Fascists before, namely The British Union of Fascists under Mosley and his blackshirt bully boys, tried to stir up trouble in London in 1936,and mainly the Jewish East End(now the Asian East End) and were soundly beaten back by Non Jews and Jews alike(and me aged 13!).
This defeat stunned Mosley and he fled to France, where during WW2 he stayed supporting Hitler.
British people are not idiots, they can see through the cloak of respectability the BNP drapes itself with.
This is what I object to most with the BNP,the patronising condecension that all Britsh people must vote for them to solve problems that we have now.
They, like Mosley being fascists are not welcome in Britain.
My wife was in a NAzi concentration camp, and I would not want anyone who was only different by place of birth/religion to be in one in the UK,something I am sure that the BNP would be happy to start!
