taskbar problem

when i minimised an open window it used to show in the taskbar but now, thanks to an 18 month old, this no longer happens and i have to use alt and tab  is there any way to restore the missing function ?

I assume your taskbar is still there? If you right click on the taskbar, what menu do you get? Close all open Toolbars and see if your windows come back.
