My wife and I have recently booked a holiday to Egypt consisting of week in Luxor and a week on the Red Sea at Hurgarda. Given the events of last night my wife and I  are now a little nervous about the trip which is just 5 weeks away.

Is there anywhere where we can get impartial advice as to the developing situation out there? Is it expected to get worse? Have there been direct threats ect?

This is a link to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office notes on travel to Egypt. It has been updated this morning.

I don't really know what you mean by impartial in this sense, but it's certainly reliable.  And it's the advice from the British government to British people.  I hope it helps.

I also hope your holiday goes as planned and that you have alovely time.  :-)

Hi.  My son and I are going to luxor and Hurghada next week.  I refuse to be put off going there as we feel that in todays climate it seems to make no difference where you go...Last year, we went to Morocco, a few weeks after some bombings there.  I was a little nervous, but to be honest you just have to do some homework before you travel, visit some web sites, check out the travel warnings and just be sensible as if you were in your own country.  We cant escape what`s happened recently, but we cant hide away indoors forever either  Go and enjoy your holiday with your loved one and remember, you`ll be together, no matter what.  Co-co
