If it WAS all so different ...

... and then it changed ... so it was NOT different any more ...

Then surely, if it is no longer different ... then it must be the SAME !!
Question Author
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
Aah, yes ... of course.

Jean-Baptiste Karr (and also Rush, of course - can't remember which album).
It might have been the "B side" of 2112 ... Passage to Bangkok, or something?
"All the same we take our chances,
Laughed at by time,
Tricked by circumstances.
Plus ça change,
Plus c'est la même chose
The more that things change,
The more they stay the same."

Rush - Circumstances
Everything changed since it became different.
I blame Bliar............

"plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose" was a quote from Francoise Sagan. I think it might have been from Bonjour Tristesse, we read it at school.
Bonjour Tristesse is a wonderful book. It's one of those books you can shove on your bag, and pull out whenever you stop for a coffee.

But I think "plus ca change" etc was first written by Jean-Baptiste Karr in the January 1849 issue of "Les Guepes"

It did subsequently appear in Francoise Sagan's novel, but that was not published until 1954.

Sagan was quoting Karr.

Well, I think so, anyway.
