BT breach of contract ?

BT have announced that all those people who are currently on the free evening ( from 6pm ) and weekend call tarif will now have to pay for any calls made up to 7pm. Are they in breach of contract ?

They probably have in the small print somewhere that they can change terms whenever they want to. In fairness a long standing company can't support millions of different "offerings" as time goes by, but it is open to abuse too. Changes should be agreeable to both parties.

The changes will take place as from April this Year apparently.
It will be 7pm until 7am instead of the present 6pm-6am

In which case it is probably reasonable since it is still a 12 hour window that is being offered. I guess they have finally worked out that 6 to 7 is still their 'busy time' so want to shift free callers an hour to when their network is quieter.

Our flippin bill is so complicated with the BTphone the BTInternet and BTVison on it I read the main page and that;'s it so It;s my fault if i don't read anything else

dot I used to work in BT billing many moons ago..........all I do now is look to make sure I recognise the numbers called and check if I'm in credit or debit with my payments....it's like double dutch.

I understood they have given the appropriate notice and also given customers the chance to cancel the contracts as the terms have been varied.

Not to me they haven't - yet.
I'm on one of these annually renewable contracts, tied to a fixed date in September. To me that means that I can't be changed until September - not without a breach of contract by them. I suppose they could offer me cash to buy me out of my contract.
