hallo campers!
Can anybody give me any tips about going on a camping holiday in the UK please? I'm completely new to camping so basic info would help thanks, like what to take etc. Also, what are hook-ups at campsites?

Hook-ups are for providing mains electricity.......always be careful with any heat source especially in a tent.
Get as big a tent as you can afford with plenty of headroom. If you're motoring pack camp beds to keep yourself off the floor. An extra "bedroom" can be used as a toilet tent with a porta-potti.
Great adventure and freedom off the beaten track. Hope you love it!!

On top of all the previous excellent I would say that something for underneath you sleeping bag is essential and often overlooked. A camp bed (as suggested above) is good but A rolled up piece of foam (usually under a fiver in camping shops) works well too. If you have this (and a woolly hat even in summer) youll be snug as a bug in a rug. We started camping with a tent, sleeping bags (we didnt bother with the foam and regretted it!) a stove and a tin of beans. Once we decided we were going to go again we started buying more things (cool boxes, small foldable table, picnic chairs etc.). Oha TORCH!! Dont forget to take a torch. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
