It has 3,890,000 hits on google for "hair wrapped round baby's toe" and unbelievable as it might be, this happens frequently enough for there to be need for a warning. It is staggering that this is not mentioned at baby clinics but if you have a baby, take the time to google this. It is called toe/hair tourniquet syndrome.

It happened to one of my children - a hair had caught around her toe and was pulled tight. She was a small baby anyway and was really young at the time so it was really hard to get it off. The 'dent' in her toe lasted for days.

When my youngest was a toddler he had an inch long hair in the ball of his foot.It was poking out just enough to tweezer it.
