Bench Grinding Wheel

Until now I haven`t thought to ask about the above, but several years ago I bought a grinding wheel from Aldi`s and it`s pretty useless so far as power goes, and I am wondering if there is something that can be done to rectify this, as I only have to exert a bit of pressure on the stone to bring it to a stop. I know I should have returned it at the time but never got round to it.

it sounds to me that its rubbish,like a lot of imported tools i dread to think what the grinding wheel itself is like as these can be very dangerous if they shatter, me i would bin it

Maybe you're applying too much pressure? The wheel only needs the lightest contact with whatever you're grinding to do its job.

heathfield as i said, i only put a bit of pressure on the wheel, like two ounces.

The home bench grinders are really only suitable for light work but if two ounces of pressure stops it there is definitely something amiss. If the guides are adjustable you could try a smaller wheel, that will give you more power. Next time get a grinder with a higher wattage.
