Ryobi 4040 chainsaw
My son's Ryobi 4040 chainsaw has a problem in that the brake tends to stay on all the time. It will run OK if the brake is held off, but this is not a solution. Does anyone have any idea how to adjust the brake. He has had several suggestions, including fitting a shim, holding it back with an elastic band, also buying a Stihl!!
Many thanks.

In this link ( http://www.shoulderso...17Bamp.mvc?P=pcn-4040 ) you'll see ( Figure 1) the parts numbered 12, 13, 29 and 20... these are key to the problem. Part 12 and 13 is a spring "band" that tightens around the wheel like device numbered 20 when needed.. The band has an adjustment screw at its base that may be the problem. As well, the spring (29) may have broken or the centrifugal wheel (20). I'd suggest. depending on yur mechanical expertise, having a shop look at it armed with this knowledge before going in... Good luck!
