1940's Party Gift

I am off to a 1940's Murder Mystery Party in a few weeks and woul dlike to get a traditional 40's gift for the host. The host is female. I have been googling and have found some traditional sweets but not much else. I thought maybe nylons as one gift - due to them being hard to get then.

Any other ideas?
