Do you have a drawer for 'everything' if so what type of thing gets flung in there, it doesn't matter how many times you tidy it up, it ends up the same way !

the book was a present from america , itchymoti has been there a few times and always gets me a cat present. he has looked after my cats when i have had to go in hospital.
I'm sure I've got one of these in my grandma's sewing box (wherever it is) - Ah, is it for mending shoes?
You tease DF - the ruler was obvious so I was trying to be clever with the book and item! Serves me right - back to the drawing board
boxtops very close . the item is used to tie up the old boot laces they have had one on the antiques roadshow and people colect them.
have seen them on ebay and now i can't remember the name . you will have to forgive me i have problems with my memory. i can't believe that i have forgotten what the item is called .
So you thread the bootlaces through the eyelets with this thingy?
The aglet is the actual end of the shoe lace but I just found this:
The word "aglet" (or "aiglet") comes from Old French "aguillette" (or "aiguillette"), which is the diminutive of "aguille" (or "aiguilee"), meaning "needle". This in turn comes from the original Latin word for needle: "acus".
Very interesting DF and well done boxy. I know there is one of those arpound here somewhere - either in the shed or under the stairs. Bobbi's thread has come full circle now - I need to tify up my drawers to find the little blighter!
^around and ^tidy - even my spelling has got the needle now

Of course it all depends what you mean by 'drawers'. Comedians might be able to supply different answers.
