How does Chatterbank actually work?
11 Answers
I am fairly new to this website (just over a week ) and find it fascinating to be able to communicate with so many people, over such a wide age range, on such a wide range of topics almost instantaneously.
However I am confused as to exactly how the House Rules work. I answered a question some two hours ago, and when I revisited the site the questioner had kindly ticked the boxes ' best answer ' and 'report this '. Since then both the question and all answers (not only mine) seem to have disappeared. I would never dream of submitting a response in coarse or offensive terms, so I am rather confused. I would appreciate any enlightenment, and if I did cause any offence inadvertently then I unhesitatingly apologise.

if a whole thread gets reported and removed, many helpful, inoffensive and elegantly worded responses go with it. Shame really, and the Ed is thinking of doing something about it; but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I think that somewhere within this site there will be some explanation ..... maybe, profile .....somewhere inside that area?
But if your just after quick overview then I think that the best way I would explain it is,
- Question is posted from somebody
- Question title then appears on top right hand side of your page in latest posts (if you click on title you will be redirected to the question
- If you think that you can answer/comment usefully then you type away and click subscribe to post if you want to get email when somebody else comments and then submit answer
- Continue looking through sections which are of interest to you

Thank you jno for your response. I can only assume that the 'best answer' and 'report this',boxes were ticked by two different people. There were some answers which were mildly facetious, to which only someone recently recovering from a humour bypass could possibly object, but it's good to know that my contribution alone may not have been responsible.

Mike, don't worry about it. I've had several posts removed. Some through threads being deleted, but most down to the fact I was either hungover and grumpy, or acting like a dog on heat.
In fact I give it 30 minutes before my post in ABH on a bus goes.
As to how the rest of this site works, someone asks a question, the people who have no idea post a witty retort before being shot down in flames, then someone who actually knows gives them the correct answer.
