will chop my onion?
Since I broke my wrist 2 weeks ago , have managed to do most things ok. But was getting a bit fed up on the cooking front , so decided to do a casserole for tomorrow.
Had some veg prepped in the freezer and chicken bits. Only needed an onion-- well what a game to peel and chop.Have chased this onion round the kitchen for at least 15 mins--no luck
So took it to my neighbour, he is 89, very very deaf, so you can imagine the performance on his doorstep as I tried to explain.I think he thought I was offering him an aphrodisiac of some kind and kept inviting me into sit on the settee and have a cuppa.!!!!!
Eventually another neighbour taking her dog out came down the street, and hearing my loud conversation , intervened and did it for me.
Realised that the old boy was probably lonely, and that I had left the cooker on , invited both back to mine for tea and biscuits.
Had a good time with lots of laughs and they have only just .
Total time to chop an onion about 2 hrs and her dog has gone home without a walk as well.
Next time I get a bright idea, I think it has got to be a take away.for me.
brenda, my ex had a stroke may years ago and can only use one hand. the occupational therapist got him all sorts of kitchen gadgets that are very helpful. you could buy them in a disability type shop but as it's short term, see if you can get them on loan.
Iceland do big bags of prechopped, frozen onions for a quid. I always make sure I have some in the freezer cos they come in so handy for all sorts of things.
