DVD-RW Problem
8 Answers
Yesterday I bought DVD-RW`s from Curry`s to record on my Panasonic DMR-ES10, but when I inserted the above DVD a message stated Unformatted. The disc`s are blank on both sides I hasten to add, so I have tried inserting both sides. The name on the disc package is PCLINE 10 discs 4.7 capacity 120 mins 2-4x speed. Any help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Daft I call it. Unless somebody knows better.
Hi, Check in the manual that the recorder will actually use the -RW type of disc as some recorders use +RW discs.
I don't know your recorder and can't help you with it apart from make suggestions.
Have you tried to record anything from your computer on to the discs?
Incidentally, I would have thought that your discs should have had a makers name or trade mark on one side but you say that both sides are blank????

If you have still got the user manual, refer to Page 30. If you haven't got it then go to the following :
http://service.us.pan...ERMANPDF/DMRES10.PDF. If you then enter Ctrl+F and enter Unformatted in the search box it will tell you to go to Page 30.

Sorry about the link not working. Try this one:
http://www2.panasonic...rders/model.DMR-ES10K
This should take you straight to the manual download. Then go to Page 30.

Hi I have a previous model Panasonic DVD recorder, and have found that its fussy about which makes of RW disc itll play/record to. It likes Imation -RW discs fine, and some other makes of -RWs. And itll play panasonics dvd-RAM discs ok too. But it wont play Tesco's -RW's. Nor will it play/record to most +RW discs, despite the manual indicating they should work. And it almost seems like once the recorder comes across a disc it doesnt like, it seems to take a while before itll even go back to playing/recording discs it used to like before!
