May I pick some brains please? 1d. Obstruction to prevent entrance or exit (8) ?l?c?a?e I have Blockade but I think it could also be Blockage. Any ideas please?

Thank you Lie-in King ~ I feel 'blockade' seems deliberate and 'blockage' more accidental, in which case the clue would have used 'preventing' rather than 'to prevent'. The great decision is now made!! :0)
